Ghost of a Dream’s projects are based on the common dream for a bigger, better, easier life. There are many ways people strive to achieve such a life. Some of us just work hard, but many look for a quicker, simpler answer to attain the objects our desires. Some people make investments, some steal, some beg, but the most common personal bailout plan that we all turn back to is the lottery system. Their current project revolves around promises of wealth, broken dreams and the investment in the lottery system. As people scratch, choose numbers and place bets, Ghost of a Dream thinks about what they would do with all that cash, and what happens when it doesn’t pay out. The scratch tickets represent real dreams that mostly disappear just as quickly as they come. Ghost of a Dream has collected discarded “scratchers” from gas stations, grocery stores, bars, and streets around the world. With this collection of spent dreams, they have made a series of specially-commissioned text pieces to be shown at VOLTA.
